I 'AIN'T' DELIVERT!
I "AIN'T" DELIVERT
Philippians 1:6
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
When I started the Living In the Red Blog a few years ago, my first post centered around Road Rage. You see, I had a very bad case of road rage during those years. I would chase a vehicle down, arms flailing, expressing my angst at their raggedy driving. However, I found that in 2020, my road rage disappeared... just vanished! Won't He do it!?! When I got in my car to drive for work or for personal reasons, I was a different driver. I was no longer impacted by road rage. I was delivert, in the words of Andrew Caldwell.
Let me tell you a secret. I "AIN'T" delivered, I just haven't been driving. In 2020, our world was shut down and we were forced to stay home, only go to essential places and locations and for the most part, most of our gas gauges stayed on full. Consequently, because I was only driving maybe a mile a two per week to the grocery store or to my grandmother's house, I thought I was delivered.
Well low and behold, schools reopened, businesses started bustling, and the world was back to normal. And you what happened? I had a case of road rage. Now to give me some credit, it was nowhere near the old road rage incidents that I experienced in the early part of 2020 leading to the pandemic, but it was road rage, nonetheless.
Guess what else happened? The accuser instantly got on his job and started accusing me and calling me out. "You aren't delivered! How are you going to be used by God when you can't overcome this road rage? Who's going to listen to you or follow you if you have no self-control? You know it's one of the fruits of the spirit." Honey, he went on and on and I believed him and felt terrible ALL day. I vowed to stop driving again... just hang up my car keys. LOL! Just kidding, but I did beat myself up to the point of tears because of my failure. I finally prayed, repented, and then the Lord reminded me of Philippians 1:6. It translates to, "Girl, I ain't through with you yet!" Well, that's how my mind interpreted it.
Philippians 1:6 truly means that He, God, who started a good work in you will continue it throughout your lifetime and complete it when you meet Him face to face. Have you ever been delivered, but then a situation occurred that reminded you that you were still a work in progress? In those moments, when you feel discouraged or in despair, or accused of a sin that you thought you'd overcome, or you have an F on your spiritual report card, God reminds you that He isn't through with you yet. If He woke you up today, then there is still a purpose for your life.
When God starts a project, He completes it! He doesn't have any incomplete assignments. He has sent His Holy Spirit as a comforter, an advocate who makes intercession for us with groaning that cannot be uttered (Romans 8:26).
The bottom line is that God doesn't give up on us. He does chasten those He loves (Hebrews 12:6), so in your wrongdoing, you may get a love spanking as He steers you in the right direction. However, when you are feeling discouraged, depressed, overwhelmed, or sad, remember that God will not give up on you. He promises to finish the work that He has begun. When life is knocking you down and sin is beckoning you to come over and play again, remember God's promise. Don't let your current condition predict your future outcomes. Your current location is not your final destination. The Holy Spirit, our comforter, and our advocate will help you grow closer to God until that day when He says, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
